On today’s menu by yours truly is..

Teochew Porridge. It’s actually plain rice porridge eaten with a tad salty side dishes. And I cooked the side dishes today for lunch;

  • Steamed Szechuan Pickled Mustard Root (Char Choy) with Chicken
  • Omelet with Preserved Salted Radish (Choy Poh)
  • Fried Anchovies

The red packet one is the preserved salted radish and the green one is the pickled mustard root.

The chicken have to be marinated with soy sauce, pepper, olive oil, sesame oil and a little corn flour. After that, you mixed it with the pickled mustard root. Add some water and steam it.

It’s one healthy dish and is one of my favorites.

This is easy but there’s a skill you need to acquire for this. Mom helped me out with this dish. It’s omelet with the preserved salted radish. Pretty simple. And I totally love it cause I love anything with eggs.

This is idiot-proof. Just fry them.

I cooked this three dishes. I’m so not a burnt out chef anymore. :D

J, the woman turned 18!

The woman had finally turned 18, legal age for clubbing at certain clubs I think. (We ought to hit one day, together.) Don’t laugh/cough/choke, but I were to be a lesbian, she’ll most likely to be my same-sex partner. Or maybe not, cause she could be is Yin’s one. She’s unfortunately taken then, and I’m fortunately not a lesbian. Trust me, you can count on me to know my own sexuality. Plus, I have… well, I’m not going to say it here. This post is about Julia Pan Yen Yee. Nah, I’ll throw in some pictures of the sexy lady for eye candies.

Birthday, J!

“Dinner is solely made by me …. ”

..with the supervision of my mom, of course. And she upgraded me from the burnt-out chef to the first grade chef. *beams with pride* :D

And I know it’s hard to believe that someone like me could marginally, possibly make dinner without burning something in the process. (Well, if you didn’t know the story; I’m a pretty bad cook with zero experience albeit the fact that I’m a girl.)

So, I managed to cook a pretty simple dinner for my family of five. It was just fried fish with stir-fry vegetables.

The tail is slightly burnt though. But frying fish is basically risky business; the oil could spluttered and at 100 degree Celsius, it could hit you. OUCH.

Ah, slightly burnt too. Oh, I have to fry all the three together and I wasn’t paying enough attention on that particular one.

Stir Fry Vegetables Topped with Garlic and Fermented Bean Curd

Fermented bean curd

Chicken Stock

Wash vegetables.

Fry garlic till fragrant.

Add two bean curd.

Put those two aside.

Stir-fry vegetables.

Serve vegetables.

Top it with toppings.

It is really that easy. So, it seems that just maybe my future husband and children may not have to torture themselves to eat my always burnt charcoal food. But then, maybe someone before that future husband have to suffer. Don’t worry, I’m brushing up on my cooking skills now. Plus, mom is a superb, fantastic, ah-mazing chef. Which is one of the reasons why I never bothered trying to cook. Where’s the point in trying to cook when you are always having good food served?

I’m happy but I still want to rant on something.

If you are not in the mood to hear me rant, I advise you to stop reading now. Or you could just skip the whole rant part and read why I’m happy. Oh, don’t worry about me. It’s just me being slightly emotional.

Rant #1 – I’d rather not know.

I wonder about a million times, what would happen if I didn’t know. Now that I know, I wished I didn’t. I wished I could turn back the clock. Then, I wouldn’t find out at all. Maybe life would be happier for me.

Conclusion: Oh, what the hell. It’s too late cause I already know now. I can’t change it. I’ll just have to deal it. And I have just the right solution. It’s called distraction.

Rant #2 – I think I might have just lost it.

Oh, when I say I just lost it, I’m not referring to my temper. Rather, it’s a kind of thing I used to have but I think I may have just lost it. I can’t find it back and it annoys the hell out of me. I need to get it back. It’s the wow thing.

Conclusion: I know if I try hard enough, I’ll be able to find it back. Looks like I’m not trying hard enough then.

Rant #3 – Why?

I keep asking myself the same question; why? Hmm, guess I’ll never be able to understand why. I mean I can’t actually just ask. If I do that, I’ll the attention seeking whore.

Conclusion: Trust me. The last thing I want to do is become that attention seeking whore. Haha, because I know I’m not.

Okay, I’m done ranting. Now, it’s time for the good news.

=D I MADE IT IN. =) I’m in Student Council.

This year is going to be one hell of a year. I can’t wait.

I'm rushing on my assignments, so just a short post.

God. Whenever I labour myself at the laptop over assignments, my shoulders would start aching again. I must have been sitting with the wrong posture. I'm always slouching on my chair. And my shoulders hurt like a bitch now. An obvious sign that I need a massage badly considering how I can't slap a hot chilli plaster cause my so darn sensitive skin is allergic to it. My life's miserable. And I can't apply my Hot Pink nail polish on my right hand nails. I tried and it's ghastly. So, my nails on my left hand have nail polish while the other hand is well, plain.

CNY at Thean Hou Temple

I have little recollection of my last visit to the Thean Hou Temple which is near Robson Heights, a place which I’m obviously not familiar either. But Mom said she brought us (my sis and I) there when we were young, also around the CNY time. According to mum, if there’s any place you want to get into the CNY mood, the temple is the place to be. I’m not going to write much, so this will be a photo blog post.

Hmm,  if you are wondering what a kau cim is, it’s actually the Oracle we learned in History lesson in high school. Or you can read this Wikipedia entry about it. And they have Chinese words on the other page but yours truly is a banana who doesn’t read Mandarin. Have to ask my friends to help me.

The past.

Yay, I’ve almost reached 200 posts on my blog. And that’s something I ought to celebrate considering I missed out on the 100th post. Oh, I found some really old drafts I never got to post. They were just to emo for me to post them, I didn’t like to see it on my blog. Like I said, it’s really old and maybe I wasn’t in the right frame of mind when I wrote them. Somehow rather, I’m going to post them today because I want to delete my drafts.

On 1/28/09,  I hurt my leg. Trying to nurse the wound was a futile attempt – blood kept oozing out. No amount of tissue or antiseptic could stop the bleeding. This proved just how deep the wound was. Beads of dark red blood are forming, a few seconds later they started to trickle down, leaving faint trails behind them. This was bound to leave a scar, a constant reminder of how careless I was. I know the bleeding would stop but my broken heart would never stop bleeding. I could nurse and put a plaster on the wound but not this heart of mine.. On 1/25/09, "That's the whole point, if you love someone it has to be obvious.. On 7/4/08,  Cause I used to once believe in forever. But now forever had shattered. I don't believe in forever. But I want to believe in forever.

Maybe not. I changed my mind.

Fun in Mid Valley. And oh, bowling is for the brain genius.

Note: Pictures are all grabbed from Yee Ming's Facebook.

You know they say there’s always a first time for everything. Well, I bowled at Mid Val yesterday. Don’t laugh, but it really is my first time bowling. Haha, yes and like a beginner, the ball kept rolling into the gutter or the ‘longkang’. I’ve only like been able to at most knock down two pins. That is so pathetic of me.
And there you see Julia trying to explain to me how to bowl; all I heard is momentum, pendulum and what not. Which is why I thought bowling is for the genius and I’m obviously not getting it.
Now, you see Yee Ming teaching me exactly how to roll the ball which basically all I did was throwing it on to the lane. Of course, it failed to hit any pins.
The bowling shoes are like bright blue and red. It’s like.. like.. a fashion disaster.
That’s probably the lightest bowling ball there. It’s a 6.
Posing at the bowling centre. Too bad Julia didn’t take a picture of the scoreboard, you would have seen 0 after 0 after 0. Haha, I’m sure there’ll be a next time.
Again, I’ve never played one of these racing games in the arcade. But I didn’t suck all that bad, managed to get 4th place out of 5. Okay, that’s kind of bad. But they were all guys, though Julia managed to get first once.
I think I had eel/unagi with rice for lunch. Not as heavenly as Yee Ming said it’ll be but it was good.

Oh, we managed to catch the movie titled Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief. It’s a pretty okay movie, not as bad as the review in TheStar yesterday, 20th Feb in the Weekender section.
Logan Lerman as Percy Jackson who is totally an eye candy. He’s cute.

Oh, thanks, Yee Ming for the chocolates. Even though, you know I don’t eat chocolates. Will give it a try though.

Syara’s 17th Birthday Do.

At Red Box in Pavilion, a place I haven’t been since high school. Kinda missed the place and all.
It’s like buffet style. Free flow of drinks.. bla bla bla. I think you guys basically know how the whole Red Box thing works, so I’m not going to elaborate.
Anyway, I didn’t manage to take loads of picture because I was busy karaoke-ing to snap pictures. So, these are the precious few self-timed shots.
Yeah, that’s basically it. I took that ‘many’ pictures then. Well, I do have one more, but I look ugly in it. Haha, but I’m just going to post it anyway.

Grabbed from Syara's Facebook.

And I have more camwhored shots too.
I’m serious, this is so not me. It’s actually a clone of me who happens to look so like me.
Oh, like the title suggest, this is Syara, the celebrated one. She’s 17!
They give us tags like they do in the theme parks. I think so that we could re-enter without paying again.
And oh, I was walking around and I saw this plaid shirt (I have always wanted one but I have yet to find one that fits.) And just maybe this plaid frenzy started cause Martin looked wicked in this one.
And he was also wearing plaids when I saw him live in Quattro last year.
Hmm, not bad but it doesn’t fit me well. It’s a bit too loose for me. So, the search for a plaid shirt continues for me.

Be a BRAT!

I know it’s a bit late for me to post this, but there’s still time to submit your applications to become a BRAT(Bright Roving Annoying Teen). In case you’re wondering what it is, it’s actually a young journalist programme organised by TheStar newspaper. And yes, I’m a BRAT too.

All you need to do now is either write an English essay of not more than 1,000 words or submit a photo essay or a video, no longer than a minute. Compared to my time (2007) , I only had one choice which was to write an essay. So, I’ll say that you guys are pretty lucky this time. Haha.

My Super Power

Note: This post is a complete shit and obviously the blogger, namely me is not in her right frame of mind.

If I ever had a super power, it would have to be the ability to hate myself oh-so-the-very-much for something that I may not have control over. Oh, wait. I already have that super power. And it's called autophobia.

Frazzled…. after Sunway Lagoon

If there was anyone capable of rubbing their eyes till they fell from the eye sockets now, it would have to be me. I’ve been rubbing my eyes since the last hour, of which I know is a damn obvious sign of how frazzled I feel now. And that I ought to go and get that much needed rest instead of blogging now. Hmmph. I’m already here, so what the heck.

Honestly, I’m not really in a good state. I have blood shot eyes (I don’t even dare to look in the mirror) and my hair is dry and frizzy, thanks to all the chlorine water. Ugh. Then, you must be wondering why the hell did I want to go to Sunway Lagoon. Let’s just say I haven’t been there for a long long time and I have kind of forgotten how the rides felt like.

Note: All pictures in this post are taken from other blogs. These pictures are not mine cause I’m just to tired to post mine.

Overall, it was pretty much so-so. For a thrill seeker like me (we are speaking in terms of excitement), Pirate’s Revenge was like a 360 degrees joy ride to me. They suspend you in the air, upside down and expect you to get scared or excited. I’m pretty okay with this ride except that the shoulder bar was really tight. The bar just presses against your chest till you can’t breathe properly. At least that’s what happened to me. It’s more likely for me to die from suffocation than heart attack on this ride.

I actually thought this Tomahawk ride was way better. It was faster, more daring and dangerous. But it wasn’t as safe as the Pirate’s Revenge cause there was only one safety shoulder bar. And I’ve stumbled upon a forum which posted an article from Malay Mail about the whole incident while searching for the picture of this ride. Funny enough, I can’t read the article but it’s probably because it was dated 2003. Here’s the link.

It looks pretty much like a watch but it’s really just a wristband which allows you to cash money into it, it’s called e-Wallet. Pretty convenient, I would say.

And after that, you can exchange the wristbands for these watches. They have a lot of designs to choose from. Kah Lok chose a red one (I’ll take the picture soon enough). But then, if you choose to exchange the wristbands for the watches, you’ll have to forfeit your RM 10 deposit (paid earlier together with the tickets).

K, guys. I think I’m going to go off now. I’ve got a karaoke session with my sister’s girlfriends tomorrow.
